For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
ADN-ZB-Junge-23.6.86- Berlin: Im Altberliner Viertel an der Nikolaikirche haben viele der liebevoll wiederhergestellten alten Häuser ihren eigene Geschichte. Der Name der historischen Gaststätte, "Zum Paddenwirt" geht auf die legendäre Beziehung ebendieses Wirtes zu Föschen (Padden) zurück. Authentisch ist dagegen die Vergangenheit des benachbarten Gebäudes. Eine Tafel verweist heute darauf, daß Lessing hier an seiner "Minna von Barnhelm" schrieb.
