For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB Häßler 25.11.1985-Dresden: Das Japanische Palais gehört zu den schönsten Bauwerken des Dresdner Stadtzentrums am rechten Elbufer. Der Barockbau - hier von der Elbseite gesehen - wurde 1727-37 unter der Leitung von Pöppelmann, Knöfel und Longualune errichtet. Bereits 1782 erfolgte eine Umgestaltung zum Museum. Die zweieinhalbgeschossige Vierflügelanlage mit den geschwungenen Dächern brannte in der Bombennacht 1945 aus. Seit vielen Jahren erfolgt der schrittweise Wiederaufbau, zur Zeit wird am Kupferdach gearbeitet. Im Palais sind das Staatliche Museum für Völkerkunde und das Landesmuseum untergebracht. (siehe 3N) |
