| Description |
Deutsch: Der britische Dampfer SS Maplewood wird auf dieser Abbildung durch Überwassertorpedo nach vierstündigem Feuergefecht vernichtet. Die originale Bildbeschreibung "wird durch Bordgeschütz versenkt" ist falsch. Quelle ist der deutsche Film "Der magische Gürtel" vom 7 April 1917 (restaurierte Fassung), der die Versenkung des Dampers bei Zeitindex 10 Minuten 15 Sekunden, 11 Minuten 30 Sekunden sowie 12 Minuten 15 Sekunden entsprechend kommentiert zeigt. Die Bildbeschreibung wurde vom Bundesarchiv daraufhin wie folgt geändert: Mittelmeer, bei Sardinien, Cape Sperone.- U-Bootkrieg.- Versenkung des englischen Frachtschiffs "Maplewood" durch einen Torpedo von U-Boot U-35
