Fine quality fruit. DESCRIPTIVE NOTES. In addition to the performance-record notes, detailed descriptionsare made of representative trees and fruits of the different strainsand variations in the orchard. Specially prepared forms are usedin securing these data, so that all the records obtained will be com-parable and arranged in the same sequence for the purpose of intelli-gent study. These systematic notes are particularly valuable ininterpreting the behavior of the individual trees and in obtaininginformation concerning the correlations of production and thephysical characteristics of the individual trees and fruits. 14 BULLETIN 623, U.
