Suess ne prend pas en considération, dans son étude de l'Oural, l'existence des hauteurs de la presqu'île de Ialmal ou lamal vers le Nord-Est et de la Toundra de la Grande-Terre vers le Sud-Ouest. Je crois pouvoir rattacher les collines de la presqu'île de lamal à l'Oural. En effet, la chaîne ouralienne, à l'extrême Nord, forme un zigzag dont les angles sont occupés par le Net iou et le Govdi paï. Celui-ci me paraît être le point de suture des collines de lamal. Entre la baie de Kara et l'Ob se trouve une élévation très caractéristique de 450 mètres. A l'égard de la dépendance, vis-à -vis de l'Oural, des collines de lamal, ce renflement qui détermine la pente des eaux de la Chtchoutchia vers le Sud-Esi est très suggestif. Ajoutons à cela que sur la rive droite du cours supérieur de cette rivière existe une montagne qui mesure \ 519 mètres au-dessus du niveau marin et qui occupe une position orien- tale par rapport à la chaîne mère (1).
