| Description |
Descending from the summit of the tallest peak on Hong Kong's outlying island of Lantau, hikers are treated to this distant view of the 4 story tall statue of Buddha on the road toward Ngong Ping. The statue is located at the Po Lin Monastery and is the largest, sitting, outdoor Buddha in the world (thanks Sam). Within the giant figure is a museum containing precious Buddhist relics. This photo was taken in 2003 and recently scanned from slide film. For a recent, closer look at the statue, visit fellow Flickr-ers Jeff & Myha. |
