The semi-wild vegetation on the Bloomingdale line frames a view of Bucktown's changing skyline. These large new houses along Wilmot were largely built in the past decade, gradually replacing a hidden block of small industrial warehouses and cottages sandwiched between Milwaukee Avenue and what was a freight railroad. The houses face the Bloomingdale with a variety of inexpensive masonry veneers along their back and side walls; one can read the 2000s' real estate boom from left to right across the photographs, as the houses and their materials became increasingly elaborate. The neighborhood's signature Northwest Tower looms in the background.
