Summary[edit]

Description Buceros bicornis, the Great Hornbill is the largest of the Horbills in India, marginally larger than the Oriental and Malabar Pied Hornbills in India. It is also long lived, with a lifespan of over 50 or 60 years. What makes the bird attractive, apart from the huge yellow and black casque on top of the bill and the striking colour combination is the sound its flight produces with the flapping of its massive wings. Seen in flight overhead at Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand, India.
