| Description |
Nederlands: Deze gigantische sculptuur is door de wereldberoemde kunstenaar Frank Stella al in 2001 gemaakt. Het is 14 meter hoog en weegt 45 ton. Het was bedoeld om in Miami (V.S.) bij een stadion geplaatst te worden. Dat ging niet door en daarna zou het in het Franse Cherbourg komen te staan. Door de hoge kosten ging dat niet door. Oerol initiator Joop Mulder heeft er toen voor gezorgd dat dit beeld in Harlingen is gekomen. Mulder kreeg het voor elkaar om in overleg met de provincie Fryslân en de gemeentes Harlingen en Súdwest-Fryslân dit beeld bij de haven geplaatst te krijgen. Frank Stella vindt deze plek aan de Waddenzeekust zeer geschikt
Het kunstwerk wordt ’s avonds verlicht. Het licht beweegt met het tij mee. Bij eb kleurt het amber, bij vloed kleurt het beeld blauw. Het kunstwerk is geplaatst in het kader van Sense of Place. Sense of Place initieert projecten op het gebied van culturele landschapsontwikkeling om veranderingen in het landschap rond de Waddenzee te bewerkstelligen. |
