DescriptionBristol.broadmead.balloon.arp.jpg |
Looking north-west across the Broadmead Shopping Centre, Bristol, from a static balloon at 500 feet. This was the centre of the mediaeval ancient walled city of Bristol, destroyed by German bombing in WWII. The remains of Bristol Castle are situated just below the bottom left margin of the image. The southern abutment of the overpass footbridge is crenellated, as visbile here, as a modern reference to its position. Left central is the complex glass roof of the Galleries indoor shopping centre. In the centre of the picture is the Hub, a circular open space used for entertainments. Immediately above the Hub is Debenhams department store. The boat-shaped House of Fraser store is to the left of Debenhams (the words "House of Fraser" can be read on the 1672px picture). |
