Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bridge & Crack Willow. The Bridge is 184154 on the lane between Draycot and Ickford. The tree is a Crack Willow (Salix fragilis) living up to its name by splitting. Whenever a limb of a Crack Willow gets to a certain weight, it can no longer be borne by the trunk and it cleaves. Often enough of the split branch remains attached to maintain life, but often also the break is too severe and the branch dies. Close-up of the willow here 184975
