Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bridge No 22 near Illshaw Heath, Solihull. Original plans were for a broad canal into Birmingham, so the bridges were built wide enough to accommodate the wider boats. The canal is particularly wide this side of the bridge because it is a winding hole, in which boats up to seventy feet in length can be turned round. Bridge No 22 carries Rotherham's Oak Lane. 86440 The Stratford-upon-Avon Canal was built from King's Norton Junction (with the Worcester and Birmingham Canal) to Kingswood Junction (with the Warwick and Birmingham Canal - now Grand Union Canal) by 1803. A second phase of construction started in 1812, and by 1815 was connected to the River Avon in Stratford. Total length 25.5 miles, with 54 locks.
