| Description |
English: Built in the late 19th Century, this Italianate-style house features a red brick exterior, low-slope hipped roof, bracketed eaves, arched windows, one-story bay window on the front facade, one-story front porch with square columns and decorative brackets, and a front door with decorative surround. The house was purchased by Centre College in the late 20th Century and converted into a fraternity house, part of the college’s new fraternity row, where the fraternity and sorority chapters affiliated with the college are now housed, with complex being completed in 1995. The house was renamed in honor of William Hancock “Bill” Breeze (1923-2015), an alumnus of Centre College and World War II veteran whom worked for the Ohio National Life Insurance Company before retiring and starting a second career as an administrator of Centre College in 1987, working almost three decades in this role. The building is a noncontributing structure, owing to its historical and present usage as a residential building, in the Danville Warehouse District Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. |
