'"Caracterizando a economia do município o Brasão Municipal ostenta, do lado esquerdo do escudo, um ramo de café e do lado direito, uma réstia de alho. Na área inferior do escudo uma cesta de ovos, representando a produção avícola da região. Também caracterizados no escudo o Pico do Garrafão e a represa de Rio Bonito, como marcos mais significativos da paisagem municipal. As cores adotadas com mais destaque amarelo, preto e vermelho tem por finalidade promover uma maior identificação com a Alemanha , levando-se em conta a origem germânica da maior parte da população de Santa Maria de Jetibá e que é o seu maior fator de progresso. Em cima do escudo se apresenta uma águia que não é só o símbolo das alturas (representando uma região montanhosa) como também um dos mais antigos símbolos da república Federal da Alemanha. O Brasão também incorpora as iniciais SMJ em letras góticas para uma maior identificação com a Bandeira Municipal, além de ser um tipo de grafia muito associada às antigas tradições da velha Alemanha." |
