English: Prof. Egbert Braatz was a surgeon in Koenigsberg, East-Prussia, who was not only a operator but a creator of new instruments, esp. for coloscopy and proctology
Deutsch: Prof. Dr. Egbert Braatz (1849 - 1942) studierte Medizin in Königsberg, Leipzig und Dorpat und blieb nach seiner Habilitation in Königsberg dieser Universitätsstadt zeitlebens treu. Weniger wegen seiner wissenschaftlichen Themen, sondern als Entwickler chirurgischer Untersuchungsinstrumente, wie das Koloskop und das Proctoskop wird das Andenken, besonders in Japan, an ihn wachgehalten.
