Íslenska: Á kreppuárunum á fjórða tugi þessarar aldar var gjörður íþróttavöllur úr sandflötunum vestan við innri höfnina í Vestmannaeyjum. Hann var unninn í atvinnubótavinnu á þeim sultar- og hörmungarárum. Þessi íþróttavöllur var notaður þarna aðeins nokkur ár. Hann varð brátt að víkja fyrir stœkkun hafnarinnar. Þá misstu margir Eyjabúar þar kálgarða sína, sem þeir höfðu ræktað um árabil, þar sem nú er hin góða og mikilvæga Friðarhöfn og Friðarhafnarbryggja. |
