Summary[edit]

Description
English: The stick and skates used by Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman and Sweden native Borje Salming during his remarkable sixteen years with the club (1973–89). The first European born and trained NHL player to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, Salming was included on the NHL's First All-Star Team, five times on the Second All-Star Team and set the Leafs all-time record for assists at 620, while scoring 148 goals (768 points). When drafted by the Leafs in 1973, NHL clubs had not yet began exploring the European player market. Salming opened the doors to North American professional hockey for players from Europe by proving that Europeans could compete at a high level in the world's top league.
