| Description |
English: Bomber Decoy Command Bunker View down Sleddale of the bunker which during the Second World War housed RAF personnel who maintained an extensive system of ditches filled with oily rags. This covered about four acres on the slope below the bunker and when radar reports came in of approaching German bombers aiming for industrial Teesside the oily rags were electrically ignited to trick the bomber crew into dropping their load on the largely unpopulated moors. |
