Text from: [1]" The octagonal sandstone font, whose inscriptions date it after 1507, is carved with coats of arms of families associated with the Pudsays, and has latin inscriptions inlaid in brass. • Pudsay quartering Layton: Argent, a fess between six cross crosslets fitchée sable, for the marriage c. 1353 of Henry Pudsay (grandfather of Sir Ralph Pudsay) to Elizabeth de Layton, daughter and heiress of John de Layton.
