Description
English: Calibration static pressure probe rig at the aft of the Boeing 747-8I prototype cabin (nose of aircraft is towards the left of photo).

The barrel is used to roll up a long, flexible hollow tube that permits static pressure measurement behind the aircraft. During test flights the barrel is rotated and the probe is trailed downstream from the top of the tail of the aircraft, until static pressure can be measured far from the aerodynamic influence of the aircraft.

This type of probe can be seen partly extended from the tip of the vertical tail of many airliner prototype aircraft.

Le cylindre est utilisé pour enrouler un long tube flexible qui permet la mesure de la pression statique derrière l’appareil. Pendant les vols d’essai le tube est déroulé et la sonde est traînée depuis le haut de la dérive de l’appareil. En aval de l’avion la pression statique peut être mesurée indépendamment de l’influence aérodynamique de l’appareil.

Ce type de sonde peut être aperçu partiellement déroulé en haut de la dérive de nombreux prototypes d’avions de ligne.
