Summary[edit]

Description
English: Blue Anchor railway station : eastbound platform looking east Blue Anchor station is on the West Somerset Railway, a preserved line running from Bishop's Lydeard near Taunton, to Minehead. The original station dates from 1874. By the time it closed on the cessation of passenger services in January 1971, the station had been enlarged and much altered.

The line from Minehead was reopened by the West Somerset Railway in March 1976 and on to Williton in August the same year. The buildings have been restored to a close resemblance to how they looked in their heyday in the first half of the 20th century. One jarring note to the keen-eyed observer, however, is that the old-fashioned lamps at the edge of the platform are now powered by modern low-energy bulbs.

The village of Blue Anchor takes its name from a 17th century inn.
