English: French Vexin; it is also said to be arms of Louis VI of France before he was King of France, but only count of Vexin.

Ces armes sont attribuées à Louis VI le Gros, alors qu'il n'était que comte du Vexin. Il est cependant probable que ces armes aient été réalisées bien après Louis VI, car :

  1. les premiers armoiries apparaissent vers 1130, et Louis VI est roi dès 1108,
  2. l'arrière petit-fils de Louis VI, Philippe Hurepel, est, semble-t-il, le premier à briser l'écu de France
