Summary[edit]

Description
English: Blackfriars Barn Possible former guildhall once thought to be the town's former town hall. The ruins still have their medieval cellar which was triple chambered and included a fireplace and cesspit. The building partially obscured by the ruins is a methodist chapel erected in 1785 and used by John Wesley to preach in. Wesley preached his last sermon under an ash tree outside St Thomas' in 1790 at the age of 87. Taken from the town's cricket ground whose pavilion is the white building on the right.
