Description Typical existing bridge steel piles and concrete pier caps used to support the beams and deck of the four bridges that were part of the FHWA, Highways for LIFE supported South Carolina DOT project to replace the bridges. The project used innovative technologies and contracting and staged construction (PBES, SCC, A+B+C contract bidding, route management). The construction time was reduced from 28 to 14 months.
