Summary[edit]

This W3C-unspecified vector image was created with Inkscape .
Description
Polski: Schemat przedstawia załamanie światła w krysztale dwójłomnym. Zjawisko wyjaśnione jest przy pomocy zasady Huygensa. Widać załamanie promienia padającego normalnie na kryształ.

Oznaczenia użyte w schematach:

  • Najcieńsza linia wskazuje kierunek osi optycznej kryształu.
  • Linie z kreskami i/lub kropkami do promienie świetlne. Kropki i kreski symbolizują kierunek polaryzacji fali elektromagnetycznej.
    • kropki to polaryzacja prostopadła do powierzchni rysunku
    • kreski to polaryzacja równoległa.
  • e - promień nadzwyczajny.
  • o - promień zwyczajny.
  • Linie przerywane symbolizują czoło fali.
  • Okręgi i elipsy to przykładowe fale cząstkowe, narysowane aby ukazać działanie zasady Huygensa.
English: Scheme shows refraction in birefringent material. Fenomenon is explained using Huygens` rule. It`s shown as ray sriking perpendicular to the surface of material, changes it`s direct

ion (do not follow Snell`s law).

Marks used in scheme:

  • Thinest line shows th direction od optical axis
  • lines with dots and/or strokes are light rays. Dots and strokes are symbols of direction of polarization
    • dots - polarization perpendicular to plane of image
    • stokes - polarization parel to plane of image
  • e - ekstraordinary ray
  • o - ordinary ray
  • inerruptes line shows a wavefront
  • circles and elipses are some of partial waves, they are to show how Huygens` rule works here.
