Text Appearing Before Image:
ire to kill something, and haveno respect for the laws. Audubon memberseverywhere should do all they can to sup-press the alien gunner and bring him tojustice. A heavy fine is the best method ofeducation ; the influence of a fine is wide-spread among the associates of the personwho pays it. In Massachusetts an alienmust secure a license, for which he mustpay $15, before he can hunt. Thislicense must be carried on the person whilehunting and is good only during openseasons. An alien who is caught huntingwithout a license is punishable by a fine offrom $10 to Isc. In New York state analien is not permitted to carry firearmsin any public place; therefore when one isseen hunting he should be arrested at once.Any citizen can make a charge. Theselaws will save the lives of thousands of smallbirds. Each of the State Audubon Societiesshould see that the alien license law isadopted in their own commonwealth.—William Dutcher.
