Here interest ranhigh, and the exchange of experiencescontinued until night. Among those whospoke were Mrs. Mary S. Sage, SchoolLecturer for the Association in NewYork state; Prof. Madison, of Provi-dence; Bradford A. Scudder, of Green-wich, Conn.; Walt F. McMahon, of thehome office; and Dr. Swope, of Cin-cinnati. One of the most enthusiastic addresseswe have had the privilege of hearingwas that given by Mrs. Cone, Secretaryof the Hartford Bird-Study Club. Mr.Baynes spoke of the Meriden Bird Cluband the formation of various bird clubswhich he asked to join the NationalAssociation. Interesting talks also were made byWinthrop Packard, Field Agent for theNational Association and Secretary of theMassachusetts Audubon Society. Re-marks by Frank O. A BIRD-WALK IN CENTRAL PARK, NEW YORK CITY, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF WALT F. McMAHON. A NEW AUDUBON ACTIVITY The National Association has establishedanother public educational feature that iswelcomed by bird-lovers in New YorkCity. Realizing the great need of localbird-walks, such outings have been ar-ranged, with Walt F. McMahon, of thehome oflSce, as leader. Every Saturdaymorning, weather permitting, the partymeets at 8 oclock at the Band Stand onthe Mall in Central Park. For two hoursthe wooded paths are explored, and theedges of the lakes and the open lawns areexamined for migrant bird-life. Under the protection of the City Depart-ment of Parks, the birds are remarkablytame and allow intimate inspection by theenthusiastic observers. On one trip an in-teresting game of tag between a Sharp-shinned Hawk and a group of Flickersoffered exciting entertainment.
