Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Birchen Bridge, which carries the A281 (Brighton to Guildford road) across the bay ('dam') of a hammer pond, and through which flows the River Arun.
In the Weald of Sussex when iron was no longer removed of its impurities by hammering, a corn mill was built in its place. Birchen Bridge Mill was demolished in the 1930s but the A281 northbound side retains a wider road carriage where the mill loading bay was. |
