Summary[edit]

Description
English: Birch regeneration on An Eilrig With sheep removed and deer reduced, birch is regenerating all across this hill. This is ironic, because the name Eilrig, refers to an ancient deer trap method, which depended on herding deer into a narrow trap, usually on a hill top like this. Further irony that when this was likely to have taken place, the hill may well have been tree-covered, and has been converted into heather moor by sheep and then burning for grouse. In the distance the glaciated Glen Tromie and hill Croidh-la. Picture taken less than an hour before uploading.
