Summary[edit]

Description
English: A thank-you to the Big Green Bookshop in Brampton Park Road, Wood Green, N22.

Over summer 2011 we learned that Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Education wants to privatise several local primary schools by forcibly converting them to "academies". A friend of ours in the U.S. recommended the book "Reinventing Public Education" for an understanding of the Neocon ideas underlying Gove's plan. The BGBS got hold of a secondhand copy for me within a few days.

So give them a ring if you need an out-of-print, or hard-to-get book. Especially if you live in Tottenham or Wood Green and want to support a dedicated local bookstore.

§ The Big Green Bookshop aims to get you most new books within 48 hours - most within 24 hours. Although the rapid adoption of "Print On Demand" by publishers will mean some books take considerably longer. § The bookshop was set-up by Tim West and Simon Key in 2008 after the closure of Waterstones the bookshop in Wood Green where they worked. A video on YouTube on 25 February 2008 shows Simon, Tim and volunteers working to transform the Brampton Park Road premises.
