English: Big Gob The extension of this lovely house is built using double size bricks called Gobs or Jumbs, made in the local brickworks of Joseph Wilkes who was a major player in the industrial revolution. The bricks were double size to get around the brick tax of the time but weren't a success as the builders thought they were too heavy and ungainly |
