Title: Original description: Big Foot (Sitanka), a Miniconjou Sioux of Cheyenne River Reservation, South Dakota; half-length, seated, wearing white shirt. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A MISLABELED PHOTO - this is the Oglala BIgfoot, born in 1832-died 1899 (after Wounded Knee, and not Spotted Elk - (Unpan Glešká {Lakota} or OH-PONG-GE-LE-SKAH, ) who later became known as 'Big Foot' or 'Si Tȟaŋka') in a May, 1872 portrait taken by Alex Gardner while part of a Dakota delegation visiting Washington D.C.
