Summary[edit]
DescriptionBig Dam, Taylor Park, St Helens - geograph.org.uk - 123959.jpg |
English: Big Dam, Taylor Park, St Helens. Part of the Taylor Family wealth came from the sale of water rights. The 'sheets' of water were an excellent source of revenue for the estate and they have a page of local history to themselves. Taylor Park was opened to the public by Samuel Taylor's grandson in 1893 and although many of the original Victorian facilities have now been lost, it still hosts leisure activities such as boating, children's playground, fishing and the observation of water life. |
