o Pi a -£ * g-s s (2J H h3 P3 98 Biennial Report THE ONE DAY I NSTITUTES-^1938-39 SERIES During the bieimium a series of six one-day institutes was held ineach of the eight districts for the county superintendents of publicwelfare. (See attached map.) Attendance at these institutes totaled563 and averaged 13 superintendents. In the open forum the superintendents presided and presentedquestions which were of greatest interest at the particular time. Thesequestions related to eligibility and referral to the WPA and to NYA,to budgeting, to use of client resources, attitudes of dependency, inade-quate facilities for the treatment of venereal disease, to heavy caseloads, to interpretation of the job to client and community and toproblems concerning professional training and staff development. During this series there were approximately 96 short papers anddiscussions presented by superintendents of welfare on various aspectsof supervision and 56 on social case work process.
