Summary[edit]

Description
English: Białystok, general city plan of 1964. The city plan approved by Uchwała Prezydium Wojewódzkiej Rady Narodowej w Białymstoku Nr 20/200 z dnia 11 czerwca 1964 was developed in the structure of the Municipal Urban Planning Studio at the Department of Construction, Urban Planning and Architecture of the Presidium of the Municipal National Council in Bialystok, based on the new Spatial Planning Act of January 1961, by a team of architects: architect Henryk Majcher, architect Helena Nowara, Roman Sikorski and W. Filipczuk. The plan assumed the intensification of development in a way that would accommodate 230,000 inhabitants and over 105,000 jobs in 1980, without increasing the area occupied by the city, while maintaining the existing spatial arrangement. The problem of changes in the development of the suburban area has been taken into account. Further development of industry was predicted, especially in the area of the present ul. 1000th anniversary of P.P and on Marczuk. At the same time, liquidation of burdensome plants in the area of Orzeskowa, Poleska, Grunwaldzka, Starobojarska, Mazowiecka streets, a tile shop at ul. Słonimska, the glassworks at Ryska 1 street, Bialystok Graphic Works at Malmeda street and others. The location of the new multi-family housing was planned in a way leading to the use of the already existing technical infrastructure or in areas reserved for this purpose. These were, among others, the areas of the Bojary I estates (i.e. part of today's Osiedle Piasta), Wygoda and Centrum II (today's Piaski district). The construction of a peripheral artery is planned, i.e. today's downtown bypass (currently the following streets: Kopernika, Miłosza, Piastowska, Towarowa, Poleska, Bohaterów Monte Cassino). The "Station Route" (Trasa Dworcowa) was also planned in the form of today's Wyszynskiego street.
