Beta-haemolytic colonies of bacteria on blood agar after a day of incubation

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Beta-hemolytic bacteria are a group of bacteria that exhibit complete hemolysis on blood agar. Hemolysis refers to the breakdown of red blood cells and the release of hemoglobin. On blood agar plates, beta-hemolytic bacteria produce a clear zone around their colonies due to the complete lysis of red blood cells. This clear zone is often referred to as a "beta-hemolysis zone."
