Summary[edit]

Description
Latina: "Melior est obedentia, quam victima. 1. Regum. 15.

Mortuus cobalt a miraculis ex obedentia." Copperplate print by Jacobus Neeffs, 1653 in 'Sancti Bernardi Melliflui Doctoris Ecclesiae, Pulcherrima & Exemplaris Vitæ Medulla' p. 440.

It is better to obey than to make sacrifices. Bernard stops performing miracles from his death bed, because they are causing too much unrest.
