In this view from the Sather Tower towards East, Strawberry Canyon can be seen in the background to left, from which it has been drawn the film The Strawberry Statement, 1970, about the occupation of the university of Berkley by the students, that they protest against the destination of a game field, before classified to the black persons, to the training of military sending in the Vietnam. The occupation of the university has had origin from this specific event, in truth the protest of the students gushes from reasons generates them, has been one decided taken of position against racism and the war. Memorial Stadium, International House, Cowell Hospital, Chemical Biodynamics, Minor, Wurster, Faculty Club, Hertz Hall.

In questa vista dalla Sather Tower verso Est si vede sullo sfondo in alto a sinistra lo Strawberry Canyon (Vallone delle fragole), dal quale è stato tratto il film Fragole e sangue (The Strawberry Statement, 1970), in cui si narra l'occupazione dell'università di Berkeley da parte degli studenti, che protestano contro la destinazione di un campo da gioco, prima riservato ai negri, all'addestramento di militari da inviare nel Vietnam. L'occupazione dell'università ha avuto origine da questo avvenimento specifico, in realtà la protesta degli studenti scaturisce da motivi piu' generali, è stata una decisa presa di posizione contro il razzismo e la guerra.
