Notes
  • Significance: The Benicia Arsenal was established in 1851. By the end of the 1850's the first permanent buildings had been erected including the hospital, two powder magazines and the "camel barns." Although the base was closed in 1964 and the area is now an industrial park, most of the structures remain. They form one of the most impressive ensembles of military architecture in the western United States.
