Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bee hives on the heath, Duck Hole, New Forest These hives are temporarily located on the heath in order to make use of the heather blossom, just to the east of Markway Inclosure, above Duck Hole Bog. The name "Hive Garn Bottom" near Godshill in the New Forest refers to an old "hive garden", where a small rectangular earthwork was created to protect bee hives. (Perhaps Honey Hill near Culverley was named for a similar reason?) These modern hives do not need such protection.
