Summary[edit]

Description
English: Barmston Main Drain, south-east of Barmston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Concrete groyne protecting the pipe at the seaward end of Barmston Main Drain, where it carries water drained from the fields across the beach to the North Sea. Under the Beverley and Barmston Drainage Act of 1798, part of Barmston Main Drain (and also part of The Earl's Dike to the north of the village) was diverted eastward towards the sea from its natural westward course into the floodplains of the River Hull.
