| Description |
English: Barmby Tidal Barrage, Barmby on the Marsh, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. View from the south (River Ouse) side of Barmby Tidal Barrage, looking west towards Drax. The concrete barrage was built in 1975 where the River Derwent flows into the Ouse, as a flood prevention measure and to stop polluted water from the Ouse contaminating the Derwent, which is a source of drinking water. Built between 1974 and 1986, Drax Power Station was the last coal-fired plant to be built in Britain and is also the largest, producing around 7% of the country's electricity.... and quite a few of its clouds. |
