Afrikaans: Na die versengende en genadelose hitte by Pak Ou, en met 'n middagmaal genuttig, was dit opnuut tyd om die pad te vat. Dit was 'n verligting om in die koel, lugversorgde kajuit van 'n groot Hyundai-sportnutsvoertuig te kom. Ons is nou na 'n groep kroeë 'n entjie buite die dorp waar tradisionele Laotiaanse handwerk beoefen word. Ons eerste halte is 'n plek wat handgemaakte papier maak. Stap # 1: die bas van 'n sekere boom word versamel, in hanteerbare groottes gesny en in bundels gebind vir verdere verwerking. (Luang Prabang, Laos/Lao PDR, April 2014)
English: After being slow roasted in that searing and merciless heat at Pak Ou, and with lunch inside me now, it was time to hit the road again. It was a relief to get into the cool, air con confines of a large Hyundai SUV. We now headed to a cluster of shacks a little out of town where traditional Laotian handicrafts are practised. The first stop is a place making hand made paper. This is hand made paper- step # 1: bark from a certain tree is collected, cut to managenable sizes and tied in clusters for further processing.
