English: CONCERT FOR BANGLA DESH - AUGUST 1, 1971
Shown are three inconsecutive video frames from the original 1/2" reel to reel 1971 videotape of the first half hour of the afternoon show two events held on August 1, 1971 of the Concert for Bangla Desh at Madison Square Garden, New York City. The videotape was recorded by author, historian, archivist and filmmaker / video producer Richard Warren Lipack. The original videotape consists of one half hour of footage recorded on a SONY AV 3400 portable video camera and recorder system (known as a SONY "Portapak"), with a built-in audio microphone for sound. The SONY AV 3400 video system was the world's first portable video recording and playback system and recorded and played back images in black and white only. This SONY AV 3400 video system was first introduced in July of 1969. Color portable video recording and playback systems were developed and were made available commercially around the year 1975. The videotape is unpublished.
