Summary[edit]

Description
English: Ballinaboy: Alcock and Brown Memorial The memorial, in the form of an aircraft tail fin, was dedicated on 15 June 1959 on the fortieth anniversary of Alcock and Brown's landing nearby in their converted Vickers Vimy bomber aircraft having completed the first Trans-Atlantic flight. The memorial is on Errislannan Hill about two kilometres north of their landing spot.

John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown were knighted a few days after the flight but Alcock was to die only six months later in an aircraft crash. Brown lived until 1948.

The distant hill is Errisbeg.
