Summary[edit]

Description
English: Joseph Ball was driver, and Cormac Higgins the fireman, of a train from London Euston to Liverpool, when a defective plate turned the footplate into an inferno. Despite their injuries, they managed to stop the train three miles further on, but sadly died from their injuries. This plaque was originally at Edge Hill station but is now on the wall of Platform 1 of Liverpool Lime Street. link
