Summary[edit]

Description The Bales Thriftway (also known as Bales Marketplace) in Aloha, Oregon, was located on SW Farmington Road just west of Kinnaman Road. A Thriftway store first opened at this intersection in 1974, known as Farmington Thriftway, then became a "Bales Thriftway" after being acquired by Odus Bales in the early 1980s. The first Bales-owned Thriftway store opened in St. Johns in 1951 and was sold in 1970 (becoming Taylor's Thriftway and later a Kienow's grocery). The second Bales Thriftway opened in Cedar Mill in 1961 (and moved to a larger building nearby in 1988), but both stores closed in October 2019.
