Description
English: Bale Sled. They once made hay up here. Now thistles are allowed to grow old and feed the goldfinches. The sledge was towed behind a baler. When full, a string would be pulled from the tractor and the bales released in a nice pile of 6-10 bales, for easy stacking - a job I remember all too well. Now big bales and silage have rendered this almost obsolete, but there is still a market for small hay bales to sell to horse keepers.
