Notes khaki hand knitted balaclava, worn by Sergt. Charles Yin, NZ Artillery, N Force, (Auck. Regt.), WW2 During World War 2 Charles Yin of Auckland was part of a Territorial unit that served as part of N-Force, based on Norfolk Island. “N” Force was deployed from New Zealand to Norfolk Island in 1942 and numbered 62 officers and 1,402 other ranks. Serving in the same unit as Charles Yin was former Prime Minister Robert D Muldoon. Charles Yin had an electro-plating business at 15 England Street. During the war his two brothers, Douglas and Arthur, worked at the US Naval Stores in Halsey Street.
