Description
English: During my free time as a genealogist, I often scan old family pictures. Among these pictures are very old pictures, which originate from the early days of photography and could only be taken by a professional photographer. In the past, these pictures were developed directly by the photographer himself onto small cardboard cards, or the finished picture was glued onto these cards, since pictures in the 19th century were still something very special and expensive. The back of the cards usually had the name and address of the photographer, in this case the back is blank.
Deutsch: Während meiner (Killarnee's) Freizeitbeschäftigung als Ahnenforscher scanne ich öfters alte Familienbilder ein. Unter diesen Bildern sind sehr alte Bilder, welche noch aus der Anfangszeit der Fotografie stammen und nur beim Fotografen gemacht werden konnten. Diese Bilder wurden früher direkt vom Fotografen selber auf kleine Karten aus Pappe entwickelt, oder das fertige Bild wurde auf diesen Karten aufgeklebt, da Bilder im 19. Jahrhundert noch etwas sehr besonderes und teures waren. Auf der Rückseite der Karten stand meistens der Name und die Adresse des Fotografen, im diesem Fall ist die Rückseite leer.
